“Pain Becomes Holiness”: The Contribution of the Sick and the Elderly for Missions-  Lima (Agenzia Fides) – “From Faith and silence, pain becomes Holiness”: this is the title of the “National Day of the sick and elderly missionary”, organized for tomorrow, Sunday, July 14, by the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), in all the dioceses of Peru. The intent of the day is “to unite the sick to Christ through the offering of prayer, pain and sacrifice for missions, which becomes the spiritual strength for the universal Church.”  Click here to read more.

Urbanization, Immigration and Pastoral Care: Seminar of the Local Church to Respond to the Social Evolution-  Beijing (Agenzia Fides) – Urbanization and internal immigration have become the most pressing challenges for the pastoral care of the Catholic Church in mainland China. With this awareness and sensitivity, the local church has mobilized to respond to this phenomenon.  Read more here.

A Bridge of Solidarity Between the Christian and Muslim Communities-  Nairobi (Agenzia Fides) – The humanitarian mission of the Camillian Task Force (CTF) in Wajir, in north western Kenya has just concluded. CTF Kenya, the humanitarian agency of the Order of the Servants of the Sick (MI) led by Fr. Joseph Khiyaniri, had been there since August 2011 with the Camillian Sisters and 5 other volunteers, under the guidance of CTF Rome.  Follow the story here.

SECAM Bishops Call Upon African Leaders to Serve the Interests of the People-  Vatican City, 13 July 2013 (VIS) – The African bishops have concluded the 26th plenary meeting of the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), calling upon the political leaders of the continent to work not in their own interests, but for the benefit of all the African population.  Click here to read more
