Urgent Appeal for Missionaries from the Catholic Bishops of South Sudan

USCMA smallThe Bishops of South Sudan have sent out an urgent appeal for missionaries. In particular, missionaries are needed in the Diocese of Malakal. The Diocese encompasses the three States of Upper Nile, Jonglei, and Unity State, which are the areas most affected by the recent violence. The pastoral resources of the Church are very limited in the Diocese of Malakal, the Bishops say, and much of the Diocese is not evangelized.

Recognizing that the conditions will be difficult and challenging, the Bishops of South Sudan are calling for “zealous missionaries who can undertake primary evangelization” in order to increase development and stability in South Sudan.
